The order it happens in
- Everything comes out of the interiorMats, car seats, the contents of the door pockets and the console. You get the things that matter back in a bag rather than in a pile on the driveway, and the vehicle gets emptied properly before a machine touches it.
- The interior is deep cleanedFull vacuum through the carpets, mats, seats, under the seats and the trunk. Then shampoo and hot water extraction on the carpets and cloth, which pulls the dirt out rather than moving it around, then steam into the vents, the seams and the stitching a brush cannot reach.
- Wheels and tires, before anything elseBrake dust is the dirtiest thing on the vehicle. Wheels, barrels and tires get their own bucket, their own brushes and their own water, and they are done before a wash mitt goes anywhere near the paint.
- Two-bucket hand washOne bucket of soap, one of rinse water, grit guards in both, washed top down in straight lines with the mitt going back into the rinse bucket after every panel. Bugs and tar are worked off the front end by hand, and the vehicle is dried with clean microfiber rather than left to spot.
- Paint decontaminationPaint that feels rough to the back of your hand is holding rail dust and road grit in the clear coat. That comes out before anything is applied, because wax over contamination just seals the contamination in and the finish never comes up right.
- Wax, then sealant over itThe wax goes on by hand, panel by panel, and is buffed off by hand. Then the sealant goes over the cured wax. That is the step that separates this from the standard full detail — where wax is measured in weeks, a sealant holds through a season of brine and cinders on Route 8 and 108.
- Ceramic spray on topA topper over the sealant, and the layer that does the visible work: gloss, and water that leaves the panel instead of sitting on it. Rain moves off a coated panel rather than drying in place, which is most of why a protected vehicle still looks washed three weeks later.
- Interior protection, and the glass lastFabric protectant on the carpets and cloth seats so the next spill sits on the surface long enough to blot. Leather cleaned, conditioned and protected where the vehicle has it, UV protection on the dash and door tops, and the glass sealed inside and out at the very end so nothing gets re-fingerprinted on the way past.

FAQ
Full Detail + Protect questions
Is the Protect version of the full detail worth the extra?
It is if the vehicle lives outside, and around here most of them do. The Full Detail cleans everything and waxes the paint. Full Detail + Protect does all of that and then layers protection over it: a paint sealant on top of the wax, a ceramic spray on top of that, fabric protectant on the carpets and cloth seats so the next spill sits on the surface long enough to blot, leather conditioned where the vehicle has it, and the glass sealed so rain beads and moves. If the vehicle is garaged and you are cleaning it up for a sale, the standard full detail is the one.
How long does the wax and sealant last?
Wax on its own is measured in weeks, especially through a winter of brine and cinders. A paint sealant over it holds through a season. The six-month ceramic spray coating is the longest-lasting option we offer and it is exactly what its name says — six months.
What is the difference between wax and a sealant?
Wax is a natural product that sits on the paint and gives it depth and gloss. It is measured in weeks. A sealant is synthetic, it bonds to the paint rather than resting on it, and it holds through a season of brine and cinders. The Exterior Hand Wash has neither — it is a wash. Wash plus Wax plus Sealant decontaminates the paint first, waxes it by hand and then seals over the top, which is the combination worth having going into a Western Pennsylvania winter.
How long does it take?
A basic interior or a hand wash runs one to two hours. A deep interior or a wash with wax and sealant is three to four. A full detail is five to six hours, and a full detail with protection is six to seven. We book arrival windows rather than exact start times so a job that runs long does not make the next customer wait in the dark.
What do you need from me on the day?
A parking spot with a few feet of room on each side of the vehicle, and the keys. We bring our own water and power, so you do not need to run a hose or an extension cord. If you are not going to be home, leave the keys somewhere we can find them and text us where.
What happens if it rains?
Interior work goes ahead in almost any weather. Exterior work needs the vehicle to be dry enough to wash and dry properly, so if the forecast is bad we will call you the day before and move it rather than do a job that will not hold. There is no charge for a weather reschedule.
